The combination of the 7 cheeses (swiss, gouda, parmesan, cheddar, white cheddar, bleu, and Monterey jack) was good, but what it was missing, in my opinion, was some melted cheese over the top - just a few minutes under the broiler to really make it pop (and keep it warm at our table). Considering it's listed on their menu under the "favorites," we thought that it was going to be memorable. There was nothing at all wrong with it, there was just nothing special about it.

Our only slight disappointment was the mac & cheese. I thought the basic bun served was just fine, but my husband would have preferred going with the pretzel bun. They offered a pretzel bun for an upcharge, which we turned down. The burger was very good and prepared to medium, as requested. My husband and I shared a mushroom swiss burger (with candied onions), a house salad (homemade tangy Dijon vinaigrette dressing was delicious), and the 7 Cheese Mac & Cheese. Therefore, our service was great - prompt, friendly, and helpful. We were actually served by several people, assumingly because they were not busy.

The place was very quiet, but I imagine that it's packed during the summer, based on its location. Antlers met the criteria, so we settled in at a table near the fire to thaw out. Way too crowded. We spent the morning exploring some cold, wet hiking trails and our only guideline for lunch was that there be a working fireplace. And they definitely need to figure out something different with the vendor show. The food here is pretty good, so it's sad that the servers are ruining the experience. I'm going back next week and will definitely review again when the time restriction passes. Side note, I wrote this review in greater detail the day after our visit, but Trip Advisor won't let you review a location more than once every 30 days, so I had to wait and just got around to it again. When he brought it back it was wrong, but as difficult as everything had been up until that point, I didn't bother complaining. About 15 minutes later we waved our waiter over and he asked how everything was tasting - I had a big empty space in front of me, which was apparently not obvious to him, and said I hadn't received my food. My three friend's entrees arrived and mine did not. We asked for more dippers and received 4 more crackers only.

Our appetizer (the dip trio) came and there were four crackers and four pieces of bread with it (for three bowls full of dip and a 4 person group). She asked "You can't just not put butter on it?" And when she asked for an egg on her burger, fried but not in butter, he replied "I thought you couldn't have Dairy? What about the egg?" and she had to explain where Eggs come from. He came back and said there was no dairy in them but that the buns would be basted in butter and grilled, so she should just not get a bun. When she said "You can just look at the ingredients on the bag and it will tell you." he reluctantly agreed to go look. When she asked him to check if the buns had dairy in them (you can tell this by checking the bag the buns come in) he told her she should just order a burger without a bun. Our waiter was slow, kept complaining about how busy they were (all of the tables weren't even full) and actually gave my friend grief about her lactose intolerance. Afterwards we wanted to have lunch and the service was awful. The back room was full of tables and overly crowded. There were vendor tables stuffed in the entryway and it was so crowded you couldn't actually check out their stuff. We went for the Deer Widows Vendor Show (think jewelry vendors and tupperware) and it was a bit of a cluster. This was our third visit since it opened.
